Hugh B. Bass, Sr.

Hugh and his wife Debra reside in Carrollton and have been married for over 50 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren. In his limited spare time, Hugh enjoys fishing and traveling.

About

Hugh B. Bass., Sr., MAI, established Bass & Associates in 1985 and was awarded with the MAI designation by the Appraisal Institute in 1992. He graduated from the University of West Georgia (then West Georgia College) in 1968 with a BS degree in Business Administration. Hugh served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed for the majority of this time at Fort Benning, Georgia, as a Personnel Specialist. After his stint in the army, Hugh taught accounting and business related courses at Carroll Technical and Vocational School (now West Georgia Technical College). In 1974, Hugh entered the real estate business as a sales associate with Real Estate West and became a broker and eventual business partner in 1978. After years as a broker, he formed Bass & Associates (now Bass Appraisal Group, LLC) in 1985 specializing in real estate appraisals and consultation involving commercial, industrial, land, and special purpose properties with services also including eminent domain and litigation support.

Hugh has also served the local community as a past president of the Carrollton Jaycees, past member of the Carrollton Rotary Club, Organizer and first president of the Carroll County Multiple Listing Service, organizer and first president of the Tri-Counties West Board of Realtors, (now West Metro Board of Realtors), long term member and former director of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, serves on the University of West Georgia Richards College of Business Board of Advisors since its inception through present, served as a member of the Carroll City/County Hospital Authority and Tanner Health Services Board, and served for 10 years on the City of Carrollton Board of Development Appeals.

  • Awarded with the James H. Pritchett Award by the Appraisal Institute; an award for outstanding contributions to appraisal education and mentoring with a focus on litigation and condemnation - 2024
